Andrea was about to head up to the west-facing Tears of Zion sport climbing area on Lookout Mountain to practice her moves on its thirty to forty foot pitches.  She has just started her rock climbing career in the last few years and admits to slow progress, but has visited the popular climbing areas in Clear Creek, Estes Park and Buena Vista.  She also climbs indoors at Earthtrex.  Her family moved to the U.S. from the Baja Peninsula of Mexico about 2007, but she did not follow them until this winter.  She had been teaching in Lima, Peru until then.   She has been educated in the U.S. at Southern California, at the University of Nevada, Reno, and at Penn.  At the moment she works at Urban Peak, helping homeless youth.
