Ron and his wife are in Colorado visiting a daughter and a son-in-law who live in Granby.  (Their daughter opened a mobile pet grooming business after working as a vet tech and she now has more business than she can accommodate.)  Both families are looking forward to riding the loop around the Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction on this Colorado excursion.

After growing up in Delaware and graduating from the University of Delaware, Ron attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota, achieving a graduate degree in plant genetics.  In the last ten years of his career, he was doing more work in that field with an emphasis on litigation and legal compliance.

Ron started riding his bicycle after taking a long ride to recover from a breakup with an old girlfriend many, many years ago. He now even considers mounting his old Bottecchia (which has been restored to its original condition by his attorney son) on the wall at home because it is so beautiful.  He now rides a Trek bicycle partly because his first boss was the father of one of the one time top executives of Trek.  Ron and his wife have taken Trek and Great Bike Tours organized bike rides to Canada, New Zealand and Croatia.  But he says if you wish to eat lobster and see icebergs during your bike rides, look up Halifax Pedal and Sea Adventures for their excursion to Newfoundland.

BTW- This was the day that a fatal accident on westbound I-70 rerouted auto and truck traffic to Lookout Mountain, US 6 through Clear Creek Canyon and US 40.  Semis were climbing Lookout to find a westbound route past the accident.  I decided not to try to join the mix of traffic on Lookout.
