Dan is a native Chicagoan. His early studies in biology did not exactly prepare him for his work in the HVAC wholesale industry, but he adapted. He garnered a third place finish in the Illinois state road race in Cat 4- 30+. He vacationed here in Colorado and thought that this just might be a good locale to live for a cyclist and he has been here now for eleven years. With a new bike, he raced for Team Palmeres in 2019.
He knew his wife was a keeper when he asked where she would like to honeymoon when they married in 2012. She said “Let’s go to the Tour de France!”. Their 45 seconds of excitement happened at the Col de Tourmalet right about the feed zone on a ten per cent grade. He said the riders could ride up that incline with no hands while unwrapping an energy bar. (Bradley Wiggins won the yellow jersey that year.)
Though he admits to no serious injuries from biking, he did say that he hit some metal plates while riding a mountain bike race and counseled his medical personnel that he needed to get back on the bike when they were taking him to get get attention. Yeah, that sounds like some concussion protocol was required….but he is fine now…he says.
