Though ESL teacher Michelle is a fourth generation Coloradan, her husband, John Mathews (whom she met on a bike in Grand Junction) is a fourth generation Texan who originally hailed from Laredo.  Those facts about their geographical backgrounds have not kept her from cycling around the world, including Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Pyrenees, the Dolomites and, if I got this right, the Hebrides in the South Pacific.  That is quite an extensive cycling resume. She also is a gravel rider who has cycled the CO2UT (Colorado to Utah) 100 mile off road ride.

Their swimmer son became a marine scientist and he has probably been around the world a few times also.
