Rich may not have lived in Colorado as long as his wife (she is a fourth generation Coloradan) but he has been here for 42 years after leaving East Chain in Minnesota. As you can see in the photo, the two of them were mountain biking the Chimney Gulch Trail up Lookout on this day.
Rich attended vocational school to learn about telephone systems and networks- even climbing poles with his belt and hooks. He later started his own company serving the same field of interest.
Holly attended Columbine High School in Littleton, graduated from Metro State and became a CPA. She worked for Ernst and Young and the US General Accounting Office before starting her own accounting firm.
The couple bought Trek mountain bikes from Wheatridge Cyclery in 1990 to get on the cycling bandwagon and moved to Golden in 1997 (the hotbed of Colorado cycling). They enjoy riding in Moab, Hall Ranch outside Lyons and Walker Ranch.
True to form, they also favor the local beer gardens, New Terrain Brewery and Golden City Brewery- the second largest brewery in Golden (at least when they started).
Thank you both for taking the time to share cycling stories.
