These two friends were running Lookout on Saturday. Eduardo on the left is originally from Honduras. As implicated by his sweatshirt, he is not only involved with Colorado Buffaloes Women’s Volleyball, he is the coach. He attended high school in Phoenix and graduated from the University of Arizona. Having coached for thirty years, his high point was taking the Lady Buffs to the sweet sixteen of college volleyball. More recently women’s basketball has been taking much of the tall talent that he tries to recruit.

He is hoping that his regimen of drinking beer and eating cookies in addition to his training will get him through running 200 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain this coming summer.

According to Eduardo, his running partner is a “Bad Ass”. Melissa warmed up her resume by admitting to running the Red Hot 33K in Moab. That was a pretty tepid warm up. She has finished SIX Ironman Triathlon distance races- Wisconsin, Lake Placid, Boulder (2X),Whistler and Lake Tahoe.

She grew up locally but went back to the east coast to college (Mount Holyoke College in MA). She did her graduate work in Boulder. Now she teaches science at Green Mountain High School.

Thank you both for the chat- eye opening as it was….

Start Saturday, March 12, 2022, 11:30 AM, 49 degrees
Finish 1 PM, warmer but still very windy

Good on anyone who battled the wind on the mountain today. Especially in the canyon, it was a fight to stay upright. If you weigh less than 150 pounds, the wind could almost blow you to a stop.
