I always enjoy talking to cyclists who are friends. You can see by these pictures that these three, Allison, Kate and Kati even over-qualify in that regard. They don’t just cycle together, they are best buddies- willing to talk each other into situations that put smiles even on the faces of the strangers around them. The top picture is probably Beverly Heights Park’s first attempt at a Double Piggy Back Ride.

‘Horizontal’ Allison is a school psychologist who grew up in the Chicago area. She and her family lost their home in the Marshall fire, so they are staying in a rental until the house is rebuilt. ‘They’ includes Ruby, the dog they adopted last Thanksgiving who was going to cool her heels in the car while Mom got some exercise.

On the left is South Dakota Kate, a public health lawyer who lives in Anchorage, Alaska and works at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. (She allows as how the commute is a bit of a challenge.) She likes to bikepack (a relatively new term to me) and has finished the Kenai 250 miler in 47 hours. Smokin’…….

On the right is the only indigenous Coloradan, Kati, Who grew up in Morrison and does public health research. Her cycling history began with “jumping the hills’ and ‘playing bikes’ when she was young and exploring the Front Range. She has even finished a couple Half-Ironman Triathlon races in Georgia and Victoria, B.C., Canada.

Thank you, ladies for the profiles and the laughs.

Start Sunday, February 27, 11:30 AM, 47 degrees
