David B. is another transplant to Colorado (six years ago from Pennsylvania). A lawyer who tried his best to wear out his joints playing squash most of his life until everything started to ache, he picked up cycling as a better option and now puts in 7,500 to 10,000 miles on his bike every year. He does not limit himself to one routine or one course, riding everywhere from Boulder to Sedalia on mostly loop courses.
His recommendation for winter riding is Mount Vernon Canyon where the sun still shines on the road on good days and the wind in manageable. As with many older riders, he likes to set his own pace and ride steadily. He also recommends that we geriatric grinders avoid crashes if we wish to be consistent. A tumble a few years ago left him with a hairline fracture of his shoulder and some lingering damage to his neck.
Other than that, he is good to go.
Thanks for your time, David, and for your insight.
